We recently installed this nice pool fence for a Mequon home owner.
If anything goes wrong, repairs can get very costly. As Ben Franklin once said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
Skim and Clean
Autumn is a time for falling leaves, and if you don’t regularly skim them out of the water, they’ll sink to the bottom and clog up your drains and filters. Also be sure to scrub off any scum build-up on the surfaces of your pool.
This is also a time to put all of the pool toys and floaters into storage. Obviously, you can’t get everything into order if the water’s cluttered up.
Watch the Water Chemistry
Winterizer kits are available from pool supply shops, and now’s the time to invest in one if you haven’t already. These kits have chemicals in them that will maintain the health of your water as well as prevent freezing when the temperatures plummet.
It’s also important to lower the water level in your pool. When water freezes, it expands. By lowering the water level, you give it more room to expand without damaging your pool.
Inspect Your Pool Cover
While it’s been in storage during the cooler months, your pool cover might have suffered some damage. Take a moment to inspect it for any rips, tears, holes or anything else that might compromise its safety and protection.
Inspect Your Fence
Here in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin metro area, by law, you must have a fence around your pool. Take some time to inspect it for any damage and clean up any debris around it. If you find your fence has suffered some damage over the summer, we’ll be happy to come and take a look, then give you an estimate on repairs.
