Ideas for Outdoor Autumn Decorating

Autumn is officially upon us! The leaves are turning, and it’s time to bring the jackets out of the storage closets. It won’t be long now before we hit the peak of fall coloration up here in Wisconsin.

To celebrate, we’re going to present you with some fantastic ideas for decorating your yard or garden. These little touches will look great all through the harvest season, into Halloween and Thanksgiving!

Pumpkins Pumpkins Pumpkins

Nothing says autumn quite like a pumpkin. You can give your front or back yard a burst of bright, orange color with the real thing, purchased from any grocery store or farmer’s market. Carve them, paint them, or set them alongside a variety of squashes and gourds to fit your décor.

For something more permanent, though, you can easily make a pumpkin out of other materials. Sculptures and wooden crafts are a great way to add some festivity to your yard without having to waste pumpkins.

Flowers Full of Autumn Color

There are some flowers that just scream autumnal color, like mums, black-eyed susans, and zinnias. If you don’t have a rich variety of late-blooming flowers for your garden, you can still bring in some color through other means.

By scouring flea markets, garage sales, or the craft stores, you can buy or make your own autumnal wreaths and garlands to decorate your porch, yard and fence. With some festive touches, like ribbons, vines and berries, you can create bright splashes of color that’ll liven everything up.

Rustic Recycling

If you find old crates, buckets or jars, you can reuse and transform them from junk into an asset. The possibilities are endless! Decorating doesn’t have to be an expensive endeavor. All it takes is a little elbow grease.

If you’re short on ideas, take a look around on the Internet and build up your stash of decorations, one idea at a time. This Pinterest board will help. Move at your own pace, and most importantly, have fun!

Did you know? There’s still time to enhance your yard with a new pergola, fence, or gazebo. Here at A1 Fence we continue to serve Mequon, Fox Point, and the rest of the Milwaukee metro area until the ground has frozen over.
