The One Thing You’ll Need if You Are Building a Pool this Summer

pool-fence-2The summer of 2014 is already shaping up to be a really hot one, which means plenty of people in the Milwaukee metro area are installing swimming pools. We’re all for it…there’s nothing like inviting all your friends over for a poolside BBQ when temperatures rise.

But we do want to make sure that you’ve factored one other little item into your pool plans.

You need a pool fence.

A pool fence is not at all optional. In fact, here in Wisconsin a pool fence is actually your legal obligation.

Wisconsin law demands that you enclose most pools with a four foot high pool fence.

The law is not the only reason to get a pool fence.

A pool fence would be a good thing to have even if the law didn’t demand it, because pool fences save lives. Specifically, pool fences save the lives of children.

10 people die in drowning accidents every day. 1 in 5 of those are children between the ages of 1 and 14. (See the CDC Fact Sheet on drowning for more in-depth information).

These deaths are often preventable. They are especially preventable in the case of the younger children, who could have been spared if they’d never had access to the pool to the first place.

In our opinion it’s not enough to have a “latching” gate, either. We think you ought to be locking that gate when it’s not in use, just to make absolutely certain that something does not go wrong.

We know that a pool fence may not sound like a very fun purchase to make. It might sound a little like buying tires.

But a pool fence is just as necessary as your tires.

Fortunately, the team here at A1 Fence can make your pool fence look attractive too, so it actually enhances your enjoyment of the pool.
